The pub and bar network across the UK is impressive to say the very least. Despite the many draw backs over the last decade and the decline of the pub industry as a whole the UK still plays host to such a magical and diverse portfolio of pubs and bars.
For this reason alone it is so difficult to decide where to go for a quiet pint or even identify a great place for a party.
Traditionally pubs were the place to unwind after a days hard work which was more of a male pastime than that of a young lady. Of course more and more young ladies slowly became regulars at their ‘local’ and pubs started to change (for the good!) Spit and saw dust were not going to retain the loyal custom of young respectable ladies so bright and breezy bars started to spring up, not replacing pubs but competing along side.
So the choice of party venue became a little harder, pubs had the space but not the bright appeal to the younger generations.
After reviewing over 500 pubs and publishing a survey in 2008 the best places to hold a party were the traditional old school pubs, the trendy new bars stood their ground but the good old pub held top spot.
