Having lived in London for over 15 years and generally hanging around London for 20 years it is unquestionable that London is home to some of the coolest pubs.

The reasons for having so many cool pubs unfolds as you spend more and more time visiting them.

Everyone pub offering a different reason to stay for another pint (or glass of wine!).

From Tooting in the South to St Johns Wood in the North you can discover why locals moan about which side of the river they are from and what side of the river they prefer.

The coolest pubs may be in South London, Clapham and Brixton have been cool happening places for well over 20 years.  Maybe there are more bars here than pubs.  The popular London pubs admittedly have become more for tourist and let’s face it, the cash flow required to retain the original character is high.

Some of the best London pubs are in Camden, Camden pubs set of many a fantastic party.  Seriously, all we have mentioned so far is South London and North London!  What about the West End I hear you cry.  The West End of London is not as friendly and it does we are sad to report cater mostly for the tourist, so getting a good feel for a traditional British pub wont be found in the West End.  However, this is not to say you wont have a blast.  Picadilly has some great little pubs ducked away down the back streets. Here is a good example and right in the heart of the tourist area.  It’s probably one of London’s best pubs – Waxy O’Connors (on a side street around the corner from the main area) is flat-out cool.

It has a small area in the front, but keep walking. You’ll be rewarded with a gigantic room that looks like a Medieval castle, complete with a balcony overlooking the main area. It’s very popular with Londoners particularly on Sundays, so arrive early and don’t stay too late!

Because London has a high density of tourists it’s tricky to say which London pubs are genuinely worth considering as venue for a cool night or party.
